Contemporary Concepts of Orthodontic Finishing
This lecture will provide a macroscopic and microscopic evaluation of the factors that influence the quality of a finished orthodontic result, beginning with Diagnosis and ending with Retention. Evidence-based strategies to achieve optimal Facial, Dental, Periodontal and Stability goals will be discussed, along with examples of how to handle clinical challenges.
The lecture will conclude with a selection of clinical tips and tricks to enhance the quality of the finished.
Indications and Application of Minimal Anchorage Mechanics
This lecture will go over the definition of, and evidence-based indications for minimal anchorage, with a special emphasis on second molar eruption challenges and posterior crowding. The esthetic and biological considerations of minimal anchorage will be delineated, along with biomechanical techniques to establish the anchorage differential.
Clinical cases will be used to illustrate the application of different mechanical strategies.
Alveolar Limits of Tooth Movement
The lecture will cover the description of alveolar boundaries and the challenges of 2D and 3D radiographic imaging. The dimensions of the alveolus around the anterior and posterior teeth will be identified, and the effects of orthodontic expansion, proclination and retraction on the alveolar dimensions, will be discussed.
The latter part of the lecture includes biomechanical strategies to manage critical alveolar boundary conditions with clinical examples.
